Why We Listened To A Little Birdy

No, we haven’t started talking to animals.

Earlier this year someone on Twitter (a brand universally recognised as a little blue bird) mentioned Tap in a tweet.

So the phrase ‘a little birdy told me’ resonates quite literally within the narrative of this article.

It was a noisy, rather annoying tweet which we didn’t enjoy listening to.

Even after the tweeting stopped, the message continued for days – going over and over in our minds.

It couldn’t be ignored.

So we called a meeting (in a pub) to discuss it (over a beer).

The little birdy wasn’t happy that their free Tap sites didn’t support SSL (to make the site secure) and, despite the questionable delivery, we agreed – the bird made a good point.

So after some thought (and a few more beers) we decided to go for it and give SLL to everyone using our free package and when the little birdy returned it was tweeting a very different tune, one which we all enjoyed listening to!

My point?

Listen to your users (even when you don’t want to) because after a few weeks, that little birdy decided to upgrade their account and become a paid user.

Even if you don’t take action, consider the message because their candid insight could likely be the key to improving your product for everyone.

Listen and never stop listening.

That is all.
